Hoylandswaine fail to reach 20/20 final after a poor performance 01/08/10

Hoylandswaine must have fancied their chances to reach the final for the 2nd year in a row after beating Honley in the quarter finals who are still underfeated in the league. They were drawn away from home against Golcar who they have already done the double over this year however the semi-finals didn't go quite to plan. After a poor batting performance from Swaine they only set Golcar a score of 101. Golcar's Craig Ruscoe who in the 1st game of the season hit 135 struck again and was very destructive and saw Golcar home to the 20/20 final against Elland who won Delph and Dobcross in dramatic circumstances

Sayers and Dickinson destroy Marsden Bowling 19/07/10

Marsden batted first making a total of 241-7 from 45 overs after the rain had decreased the overs. But with Hoylandswaine at full strength with Yorkshire man Joe Sayers playing that score was never enough on the Haigh Lane ground Joe Sayers and Lliam Dickinson both in excellent nick put on a partnership of 220 for the first wicket before Lliam Dickinson found himself walking back to the pavillion for a score of 71. Joe Sayers finished on 149* from 89 balls and was stopped from scoring his 150 from a No Ball from Chris Kilner. Other results went Hoylandswaine's way with Delph and Dobcross who are currently in 3rd place losing against the undefeated Honley and Kirkburton losing against Scholes meant they dropped points, Hoylandswaine are currently in 4th Place on the same points as Delph and Dobcross 58. The clear leaders are obviously Honley on 84 points and the very bitter Shepley on 77.

Hoylandswaine who on tuesday before the game were top of the league with 9 points found themselves stuck inside the Kexborough Pavillion awaiting the result of Shepley and Kirkburton but both games being called off meant Hoylandswaine topped their group and progressed to the 2nd Round against undefeated Honley away. Sadly Shepley one of the teams predicted to progress to the finals finished 2nd in the league and are out due to a defeat to the 'Multi-National' Swaine.

Sayers saves Swaine from Golcar defeat 15/07/10

Golcar 206a.o Vs Hoylandswaine 216a.o * (Hoylandswaine 6 Points)

Hoylandswaine were in a dramatic battle against Steve Whitwams Golcar on Saturday, Swaine batted first with Joe Sayers and Zac Morris opening but with Zac Morris getting a duck it saw Hoylandswaine under pressure from the start. Joe Sayers and Alex Morris had other ideas and made impressive scores on a poor sloping batting wicket. Joe Sayers made 67 hitting 12 4's and 1 6 and Alex Morris the skipper helped him out with 41 from 29 balls. Ben Potter and John Ashton chippped in with 27 and 28 but many other batters struggled to get of the mark and past double figures against the spin bowling of Whitwam. Hoylandswaine finished on 216 from 48.2 overs with Whitwam getting 7-56.

Golcar major scorer was their wicket keeper slash opener Eddie Wilson who scored 61, Craig Ruscoe and Adam France both got early 20's but Golcar just dropped short of the score getting 206a.o with all the bowlers chipping in Potter with 3, A.Morris 3, Le.Blanc 2 and Z.Morris and Simon with 1.

20/20 Form continues 01/07/10

Hoylandswaine faced Shepley on Tuesday and after their embarrasing loss to Shepley earlier on in the season Swaine wanted revenge and with overseas Aussie Anthony Marr getting back to England in record timing opened and got 76 even though he was suffering from serious jetlag his opening partner John Ashton made a quick fire 24 before he was dismissed. Moreland Le Blanc then came in with great confidence after his knock of 135 NO against Barkisland and made 44. Swaine in the end posted 208 and with Shepley start to their batting anybody would have thought they were clear favourite with Tom Denton and Liam Wiles hitting some brilliant shots however both batsmens were eventually undone and the bowling attack made it very difficult for the other batters to push on and win the match. Shepley finally finished on 184-7 dropping short of Hoylandswaine's total and keeping Hoylandswaine top of their group.
