HOYLANDSWAINE C.C. 1st TEAM v CLAYTON WEST on Sat 02 Jun 2012 at 1.30pm
HOYLANDSWAINE C.C. Won 211 RUNS

Match report Swaine arrived at Haigh Lane looking for their 5th win on the bounce after the disappointing loss against Hall Bower. They welcomed the other newly promoted side to Haigh Lane and showed them how tough this league really is! Sadler won the toss and chose to bat on a fairly dry wicket. Sayers and Sadler opened the batting, again in absence of Dickinson. Swaine didn't start as well as they had planned as Sadler was sent back by Stevenson for a duck in the 3rd over. Morris started well, hitting his first few balls for four. Unfortunatley he was the 2nd wicket to fall as he was bowled by Tom Barber. Just after, Sayers showed yet again what a brilliant batter he is as he passed the 50 mark for the 4th time in five games! He was supported well by Cranmer who also made sure he wan't to make the same mistake as last week (bowled on 49) as he passed his half century. Sayers looked sure to get his second century in as many games but was caught and bowled on 87 by Wilfred. Cranmer kept going and Swaine were on course for a big score, especially when Rashid came in and hit a 35 ball 69. Not long before the end though, both Rashid and Cranmer (82) were both out. Potter, Bandula and Mynett all chipped in to a brilliant 304-6 at tea!

Clayton West came out knowing it would take something special to knock of Swaines mammoth of a total. But it can be done as champions Honley proved last year (knocking off about 370). Swaine started brilliantly as the first wicket fell in just the fifth over. The second and third soon followed as the visitors found themselves 32-3. It didn't get any better for the West as the next three wickets fell for just 7 runs. Bandula (12-2-24-4) and Cranmer (9-0-32-3) both bowled well and cut open the top order, which meant the rest was left to Rashid to finish things off. He did in style as in just 1.5 overs and 7 runs, he had 3 wickets to his name and the game was over. A brilliant performance from the whole team and the next challenge is a tough trip to kirkburton on monday, lets hope for another vital 6 points!

Man of the Match: Amar Rashid (69 and 3-7)
