SKELMANTHORPE v HOYLANDSWAINE C.C. 1st TEAM on Sat 27 Apr 2013 at 1.30pm
HOYLANDSWAINE C.C. Lost BY 6 WKTS

Match report This week, it was Swaine's first away game of the season which meant a trip to Lidgett Lane of Skelmanthorpe. After last weeks disappointment, this was the ideal opportunity for the champions to bounce back. Swaine batted first.

The visitor looked to be going well when both openers had 20 runs to their name, but they both fell quickly, leaving the skipper Sadler at the crease alongside new signing Ryan Robinson. They built a strong partnership and in doing so, Sadler hit fifty and now has over 100 runs already this season! Unfortunately, he fell on 64, but Swaine didn't hold back. Ryan Robinson hit fifty soon after the captain departed and looked in good shape for the first 'Swaine' century of the season! However he went in search of another maximum to add to the six he had already hit, and was caught on the boundary. He still managed 81 though, and will be looking to add to that at Hall Bower on Sunday. While he was at the crease, he watched three more wickets go, as Rashid, Wilkinson and Potter failed to get a start. the pick of the Skelmanthorpe bowlers was Alex Scholefield, who ended with figures of 3-63 off 16. Bandula and Mynett however saw Swaine through with 24 partnership which lifted the visitors to a final score of 232-7 off 50!

The rely started very well for the hosts, hitting 28 from the first three overs! However, it wasn't long before Swaine made the vital breakthrough as Scholefield got a knick through to Mynett behind the stumps. It was soon two on the board, as Tim Sykes only made 2 before Potter trapped him LBW. Haroon Rashid and Yaasar Imtiaz re-built the innings for the hosts, with some good shots, and they both took advantage of some bad balls. Imtiaz looked well on 39, before the slightest knick through to Mynett again was enough. Two balls later, Bandula had another, and the pressure was starting to build on Shat, as Shaun Alderson was given out LBW for a duck. The next partnership was the winning one, with Haroon Rashid and Bjorn Taylor at the crease they pushed on for the win. Rashid, brother of our own Amar hit fifty and although it took Taylor 24 balls to get off the mark, he hit eight sixes in an entertaining 65no. Swaine dropped some catches again, and Ben Potter and Don Bandula were re-introduced to try and get that pivotal wicket, that would really put pressure on the hosts. This didn't pay off as Skelmanthorpe coasted to a 6 wicket win with two balls to spare. Haroon Rashid finished with 96no, unlucky not to reach his century.
